So you got what it takes to participate in Google Summer of Code and work with us for some months? Great! You will need to apply for one or more certain tasks. That implies writing an application. In order to get you started, here is the minimal set of questions we will be asking you. You are, of course, free to extend this list and provide more information about you.

How old are you?

Where do you live? (Timezone)

Academic Experience? (Semester, Field of Study, ...)

Coding Skills

How would you describe your active python knowledge and skills?

What software projects have you already worked on? (Language independent)

  • Please provide explicit information about what exactly you contributed to that project (repo url, etc).

What are your favourite programming languages? (List them, best first)

What tools do you use for development? Name 5. (Like Vim, Notepad, MS Office, git, ...)

Are you experienced with version control? What tools did you use?

Have you ever worked in a group of people on a non-trivial task?

Have you ever done full-day work over a longer period of time?

Do you have experience with writing tests?

Do you have experience with writing documentation?

Your Ideas

What task(s) do you apply for?

  • Why did you choose that specific task?
  • What are your own ideas for it?
  • Why do you think this is a good task for you? Why do you think you are the best choice for that specific task?
  • What do you plan to produce while working on the task? ("deliverables")
